Avoiding the Most Common Types of Car Crashes

Taking some simple precautions will help you in avoiding the most common types of car crashes, and these include:

  • When driving, be prepared for the unexpected and have a plan of action in mind.
  • Do not allow passengers to distract you by looking at them while you’re carrying on a conversation.
  • Pay close attention to other drivers when approaching the scene of an accident and do not be one of the “rubberneckers” attempting to see what happened; stay focused on the road.
  • Avoid changing cd’s or radio stations. One glance away from the road may leave you in the ditch, or in a head-on collision.
  • Be aware of weather conditions that could cause you to lose control due to slick surfaces, or hydroplaning during or shortly after it has rained.
  • Do not exceed the speed limit.
  • Do not drink and drive, nor take drugs that could impair your driving.
  • On road trips make frequent stops to avoid fatigue.
  • Control your emotions, and never allow road rage to control you.
  • Do not follow too closely to the car or truck in front of you even when you’re planning to pass them.
  • Never pass another vehicle unless you are in a passing zone, and can clearly see that you will have more than ample time to do so.

By heeding the above precautions, you may save your life, and the lives of the people you love. In addition, you are far less likely to have to live with the regret of being at fault in a serious or fatal accident.
